Tips for Storing Fine China Items

By admin | April 12th, 2013 | Leave a Comment

We usually get fine china as gifts or inherit as family heirlooms. However due to tight arrangements in living rooms, these items remain unused and displayed. To prevent fine china from any kind of damage, an option is to store these in a self- storage facility temporarily. As these are fragile items, you need to take up certain measures to ensure fine china remains safe and protected in the storage unit.

You can use newspaper or a cardboard box to pack these fragile items. However buying china storage kit would probably sound one of the best investments for the safety. These kits are cheap and are easily available at the local stores. There are china bags that protect and seal the dishes preventing chipping and dust. Whereas dish storage kits are already padded and have cardboard separators with foam pockets, perfect for your fragile belongings.

While packing up the dishes, insert felt pieces between them. You can cut out circles with slightly smaller circumference of plate for the same. But remember, stack up to only six to eight plates otherwise you may end up raising a chance for dishes to fall off by putting pressure on bottom plates.

Wrap up fine china with bubble paper but not too tightly before placing them at the storage space, NYC. Make sure nothing it kept over the top of the boxes containing your fine china belongings in the unit.
